Have you ever considered taking on a marathon swim?
We are putting together a marathon swim training plan / group to help you get ready for the local 6k to marathon distance swim races available later in the summer, such as:
The six month program will be split into two 3-month training blocks.
Phase 1 - Base
The first three months will be pool base training with three sessions per week, gradually increasing the distance per week and setting you up with a great foundation on which to build into long distance open water swims and marathon specific swim training.
Phase 2 - Build, Race Specific
The second three month build phase starts when local water is warm enough to comfortably swim longer distances. This could be early April for small lake swims and early June for ocean swims. Depending on the distance you are training for we might need to increase to swimming 4 or 5x per week, steadily building toward race distance swims and developing open water experience, finishing with a taper phase as we approach race day.
You should currently be able to swim 2000m with ease at roughly 2:00 per 100m pace to join this program.
