The new swim caps look great!
Coast Swim Team is new for the 2018-2019 season but the core of our team has been competing in Masters Swim Races for the past 2 years, entering local meets throughout the season. Most swim meets we have 8-10 swimmers on our team but some meets we’ve had as many as 25 swimmers (making us one of the biggest swim teams in Vancouver)!
We have a spot on the team for you whether you are a new swimmer looking to challenge yourself, an experienced swimmer looking to compete again, or a triathlete looking to gain swim racing experience.
Since most of us do not have a swimming background we try to keep the meets focused on fun, supporting each other, and simply doing our best. Masters swimming is a very inclusive environment with a wide range of abilities. Trust me, you will not be embarrassed or out of your depth here. Bah boom, pun intended! See video below.
As your coach I will help prepare you for each race as best I can. Our swimmers will take part in most of the Freestyle events and some will also try Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and IM too!
All swimmers will be called upon for relay races! These are fun team bonding events and not to be taken seriously. I mean, swim as fast as you can for the team, but enjoyment and banter are more important than performance in these events.
Diving and flip turns are not mandatory! You are welcome to start each race from in the water. During the warm up you will have a chance to practice diving, and I am hoping to offer diving clinics later this year so we confidently leap off the blocks with style.
Ron Andrews Community Centre from 2:00 - 7:00 pm.
Winskill Otters host their annual long course swim meet in Richmond.
Cool fact - they will pick us up and drop us off at the ferry terminal. No excuses!
Hosted by English Bay Swim Team at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre. Essentially a home meet for us.
