why A skill based training plan?

program overview

Three types of swim session

Straight Up Skill Pace

Easy Distance, Best Technique

Straight Up Skill Pace

These workouts build your aerobic engine at an effort level that allows you to focus on swimming with good skill rather than high effort, and they offer both a physical and mental challenge.

Speed Play

Easy Distance, Best Technique

Straight Up Skill Pace

In these workouts you will swim at different speeds to train your threshold and replicating the realities of racing. There are four different sets - Over Under, Drop Set, The Devil and The Grizzly!

Easy Distance, Best Technique

Easy Distance, Best Technique

Easy Distance, Best Technique

These workouts incorporate longer distance reps at a low intensity and will feature more drills than the other sessions. Focus on delivering the best technique you can muster.

WHy FOLLOW A TRAINING PLAN?

To reach your swimming potential you need to have a structured plan in place. Showing up to the pool without a clear objective is a mistake. Most people, when left to the own choice, will always take the easy option.

Following a training plan will add purposeful variety to your swim training, allowing you to track your pace and feel progress as you repeat key sets, all helping to keep you accountable and motivated each time you get to the pool.

Video Analysis

Purchase a video analysis session for $49 + GST.  Ask a friend of fellow swimmer to film you from the pool deck, ideally doing both normal swimming and some drills. Most pools allow this now so long as you tell the lifeguard what you are up to. Film yourself from the front and from the side, upload your videos here and we will be in touch to arrange a video analysis consultation with you.
